 EGG-FREE & GLUTEN-FREE OPTION

If you want to wake up and make easy vegan french toast within 4 mins, make the vegan egg mixture in advance so you can just dip your bread right away and fry. Whenever you make the vegan egg dredging liquid ahead of time, you can even freeze it so you can defrost, dip and fry anytime a french toast craving hits.

Instructions
  1. To a high-speed blender, add melted vegan butter, soy milk, coconut sugar, tofu, nutritional yeast, Kala namak, and vanilla and blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer to a large bowl, but shallow bowl.
  2. Heat a large frying pan over med-high heat (non-stick preferred) and melt 1 tbsp butter.
  3. In batches, dip a slice of bread into the tofu mixture and coat both sides generously. Place it onto the pan and repeat.
  4. Cook both sides of the bread for 3 to 4 mins each, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove each slice from pan and serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh fruits, or whipped cream.
NOTE:
  1. When frying, I also like to cook the perimeter of the bread slice by standing it upright for about 2 minutes on each side, or until crispy.

  • Really enjoyed this recipe. Next time, I’ll plan to use crispier or slightly stale bread for better texture, but the flavor was great!

  • Loved this recipe! Made it for a vegan brunch and it was a fan with everyone. Definitely better than a lot of custard based french toast I’ve had. Will make again.

  • Making a batch of this on the weekend 😋😋😋 Can’t wait

  • Omg freezing the batter is amazing!! Love this for big brunch

  • Tammy Davis says:

Absolutely fabulous! I used half a loaf of french bread that I had tossed in the freezer. I still have a bit of the tofu batter left for a few more pieces. My husband loved it so, I’m betting this recipe would be likeable to most people.

  • My non-vegan boyfriend likes this better than regular French toast. It’s requested every weekend. With coco whip of course

  • Quick, super easy, and delicious!!

  • One of the best French toast recipes I’ve tried!

  • I just made this for both my boyfriend and myself loved it. We both got full fast because of the tofu which we appreciated. Yum!!

  • Tried this recipe this morning with gluten-free bread and absolutely loved it! Super quick too!
