During my recent trip to Israel, I tried tahini toast for breakfast and instantly knew it would be my new healthy go-to when I got home. I chop the veggies and mix up my own tahini dressing during my weekly meal prep so I can prepare this breakfast in under 5 minutes in the morning.

VEGAN | NUT-FREE | GLUTEN-FREE OPTION

This breakfast is tasty and keeps me full until lunch. It’s easy to swap out for different types of bread if you’re gluten-free or have another type of bread in your kitchen.

By prepping the vegetables and the dressing at the beginning of the week, I can just throw some bread in the toaster and assemble it super quick. This is easy to whip up for your whole family, and a healthy way to start everyone’s day. I like to quickly build this by spreading some of the tahini sauce on toast, stacking the veggies in a pile on top, then drizzle a little more sauce over before serving.

TIPS FOR MAKING TAHINI TOAST

  • For quick breakfasts, prep your veggies and tahini the night before so that it only takes a few mins to toast your slices and apply the tahini and veggies on top!
  • The tahini sauce can last for 3 days once made.
  • For my tahini, I use half and half whole sesame and regular shelled sesame tahini.
  • When mixing your tahini sauce, it may look like it’s separating, but just whisk it well.
  • Double the veggies if you’re making this recipe for two people.
  • If sprinkling lemon juice on top, you can squeeze lemon over a strainer so no seeds or pulp fall on your toast.

DO YOU REFRIGERATE TAHINI?

When you make fresh tahini, it can be runny. So if you refrigerate tahini, it will harden over time, making it more smooth and less runny.

IS TAHINI GOOD FOR YOU?

Tahini is very good for you! It has more protein than milk and rich in vitamin B, vitamin E, and important minerals, like magnesium, iron, and calcium.

WHAT IS TAHINI SAUCE MADE OF?

Tahini sauce is made from crushed sesame seeds. To make tahini sauce, you mix tahini paste, water, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt! You can put tahini sauce on anything you want.

CAN YOU EAT TAHINI ON TOAST?

Of course, you can eat tahini on toast! I ate a lot of tahini on toast in Israel. Spread an indulging layer of tahini over your toast, top it with veggies, lemon juice and a pinch of salt!
