vegan bulletproof coffee recipe

Vegan Bulletproof Coffee recipeIt is essential that I have my morning coffee before I do anything else. We’ve all heard it before, “But first, coffee”, or “Need coffee first”. I get it, I really do, because that’s me to a “T”. No coffee, no magic. If you are in the same boat, and are looking for a clean coffee that doesn’t hype you up and then leave you with a crash, this purified coffee solution will make you feel way less concerned about enjoying your morning cuppa.

For those of you who are new to Bulletproof coffee, aka butter coffee, it is a coffee that is traditionally infused with butter and coconut oil in a blender for a milk saturated coffee taste that gives the brain a more consistent release of energy throughout the day. Bulletproof coffee was created by Dave Asprey, the founder of the Bulletproof Diet. It’s pretty widely known that its not healthy to drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day, and I don’t recommend more than 1-2 cups a day. That being said, this is a serious game changer, and I think you are going to love it!

vegan bulletproof coffee recipeFor this recipe, we are using Madre Lab Cafe Ceps Instant Organic Coffee, organic coconut oil and Bulletproof Brain Octane oil. You will need a blender to make this recipe. Trying to stir it manually with your spoon will just result in an oily film sitting on top of a chunky mixture. No one wants that!

So bust out that blender, add hot water, desired coffee amount (if you like lighter roast coffee, add 1 scoop, and add 2 if you like a darker coffee). I recommend adding 2 tsp of your organic coconut oil and 1 tsp of the Brain Octane oil. A note of caution here, started small with your oil because it will have you running to the bathroom if you take too much. So if you’ve never tried a bulletproof coffee, start with only 1 tsp of each. Blend on high for 30 sec or until everything is well combined, light and frothy. Taste and add a second tsp of instant coffee or maple syrup if necessary, to taste. Blend again for 30 seconds or until frothy, e presto! You have yourself the coffee hack of the decade. Enjoy that jet fuel!

  • Can I use coconut oil and vegan butter. I have been doing it this way and it’s yum, but am I still getting the effects of fasting?

  • I do something similar. I drink 2 cups of this instead of breakfast. (235 calories). Not in addition to breakfast! My body feels really good on it. I worry about all the saturated fat, though. I tried it with light olive oil once, but it tasted pretty bad.

  • Lynnette Scrutton says:

Thank you for the beautiful pictures! I appreciate the alternative ideas! I am going to pick up some of that octane oil and give it a whirl. Like you, I must have one cup of coffee in the morning. I did try the traditional butter coffee and it was amazing. Anxious to do it your way.

  • I thought the hype of bulletproof coffee was the butter and oil mixture. I thought Brain octane was refined coconut oil. So this recipe says to add coconut oil and brain octane. That’s a lot of coconut oil. Why can’t you add vegan butter and then brain octane??

  • I’m such a traditionalist in regards my diet. I already get about 50/60 breaks of fat with my vegan diet – hello nuts, avocado, and vegan burgers . Does anyone worry about this added about of fat? I’m interested to try it, but as a runner am concerned about upsetting my harmonious nutritional balance.

    Thanks!
