DORITOS POPCORN INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare popcorn using your preferred method. I have a popcorn air popping machine!
- Optionally, finely grind nutritional yeast, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, chili powder, and salt in a spice grinder. I find it helps coat the popcorn more evenly.
- On a large baking sheet, place popcorn. Pour melted vegan butter, and toss the popcorn to coat.
- Sprinkle the nutritional yeast mixture over the popcorn, and toss well to coat. Taste and add more salt, nutritional yeast or chili powder as needed.

Ah this was so delicious. I could have eaten the whole recipe to myself! I don’t have an air popper, always just oil pop on the stove and this was phenomenal. Great idea to the person who just keeps a bunch of this seasoning on hand. Will definitely be making this again!
Can you omit the oil/butter?
You’ll need something to stick the seasoning onto the popcorn, you could try using less!
I now proudly own a spice jar in my cabinet labeled ‘doritos’ for quick snacking access, and who says it has to be only for popcorn, the possibilities will certainly present themselves, thanks for the recipe! it sticks pretty well even without the oil/butter, if you want to omit that, you could 😉
Such an easy way to achieve my chip craving while being at home under quarantine. I had all of these things in my kitchen already
Hi Candice! All your recipes are 🔥…question, is the “oil” that goes over the popcorn melted vegan butter? (I ask because the Ingredients don’t list an “oil”). Thank you so much 😊
Hi Patti! You can use melted butter or oil! I used melted vegan butter, but I know some people might not have access to vegan butter, so I also included oil. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
Makes sense ..thank you!! I made it last night …SO GOOD!!!!
Thanks Patti! So glad you enjoyed it! Would you be able to rate this recipe 5 stars if you loved it? 5 Star reviews help me out 🙂
So…by oil do you mean the vegan butter (and I assume it is melted)? I don’t see any other option that makes sense in the ingredient list.
Oil or melted vegan butter can be used for the seasoning to stick. I recommend vegan butter though, but mentioned oil as an option in case a reader only has access to like coconut oil or something.
I’ve been thinking about Doritos all day. Get out of my brain and thanks.
I saw this took only 4 mins to make so I tried it last night for movie night and it was a great popcorn seasoning! I didn’t have cumin at home but I enjoyed it either way!
