HOW DO YOU MAKE VEGAN SPICY NUGGETS?
- Coat each piece of tofu in chicken-style broth completely in a bowl and let stand at 15 minutes or cover and refrigerate up to 24 hrs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer, or a large pot.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, tempura flour, onion powder, garlic powder, soy milk powder, sugar, salt, back pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika. Set Aside.
- In a second bowl, whisk together egg replacer, soy milk, hot sauce, and corn starch.
- Place a wire cooling rack over a lipped baking sheet.
- In batches, dredge the tofu one by one, by coating it in seasoned flour shaking off the excess, and then the egg replacer mixture, and then carefully placing it into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown.
- Remove the tofu from the oil and place them onto the prepared cooling rack.
- Repeat until you run out of tofu.
- Serve with my homemade McDonald’s mighty hot sauce.
Substitute: if you can’t find tempura flour, use equal parts all-purpose flour and corn starch, and then 1 tsp baking powder.
