The new Popeyes chicken sandwich was all the rage on social…apparently. And since Popeyes doesn’t have many vegan options, I wanted to make a vegan option for Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, since we’re all about cruelty-free food here at The Edgy Veg.
I created a vegan popeyes chicken sandwich recipe that is a meatless replica that you can make at home for your family instead of eating takeaway. I took my popular Vegan Chicken Drumstick recipe and used a secret spice blend to create vegan KFC chicken and then dressed it into a Vegan Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.

Vegan Popeyes Chicken Sandwich
The base of this recipe is my Best Vegan Chicken Drumsticks recipe, but breaded and seasoned to be similar to the world-famous KFC fried chicken. This vegan fried chicken is then dressed up like Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich, but with vegan butter, mayo and buns. It’s so delicious.
There’s also just something fun about making fast food from home! Feel free to make a side of fries to go with this epic vegan chicken sandwich.
INGREDIENTS FOR VEGAN POPEYES CHICKEN SANDWICH
- My Recipe for Vegan KFC Chicken
- 4 hamburger buns
- Vegan butter or margarine
- 10-15 dill pickle slices
- 4 tbsp vegan mayonnaise
INSTRUCTIONS FOR VEGAN POPEYES CHICKEN SANDWICH
- Prepare vegan fried chicken according to recipe instructions.
- Lightly butter each half of the buns and toast the buttered sides on a pan over medium heat, until lightly browned.
- Spread roughly 1/2 tbsp vegan mayo onto the top and bottom of each bun.
- Place 3 to 4 pickles on the bottom of each bun, and top with vegan fried chicken.
- Add the top bun and serve with a side of fries or veggies, or really whatever you want.
