Iron is a mineral that transports oxygen in the body through red blood cells and is essential for transferring oxygen from the lungs to the tissue via the blood. Most of the iron in the body is present as myoglobin which is present in muscles cells and accepts, stores and transports oxygen in your muscles.
Important right? Those who are iron deficient develop iron deficiency anemia can experience a reduced amount of oxyhemoglobin in skin, fatigue and unusual weakness. Not only is this linked to lack of iron but also iron absorption or bio availability. This means that your iron intake could be awesome but your body is unable to absorb it because it is taken in conjunction with milk, coffee, tea, and phytic acid found in dietary fiber.
There are many options rich in iron but few are accompanied by a measurable amount of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps increase the bio availability of plant iron, so this combination is extremely beneficial. One tablespoon of dried sea veg can contain between 1/2 milligram and 35 milligrams of iron with vitamin C.

Sea vegetables also contain the mineral iodine and vanadium and contain a variety of enzymes called haloperoxidase. All of these mineral require one another in order to function. They play a multi-faceted role in the regulation of blood sugar and carbohydrate metabolism.

It gets better, sea vegetables also have anti-viral activity and studies have shown that the sulfated polysaccharides help prevent replication of viruses by blocking the binding sites required for cell attachment.
