Plantains are the bananas less sweet, bad ass sister. They are a hearty fruit that is mainly used for cooking by means of frying, steaming and baking. The possibilities with this hearty fruit are endless. Plantains are believed to be potent sources of vitamin A, potassium and fiber. This recipe makes a great side dish to compliment any meal; or as a delicious snack.
Roughly 3 tbsp coconut oil per plantain
Himalayan Rock Salt
- Preheat oil in a large, deep skillet over medium high heat.
- Peel the plantains and cut them on a diagonal into 1/4 inch slices.
- Fry the pieces until browned and tender.
- Drain excess oil on paper towel, and sprinkle with salt and rosemary.
