Personally, I am a huge fan of convenience foods. Let’s spend less time cooking and more time enjoying our foods! The issue with most convenience foods is the lack of nutritional value, and the abundance of preservatives, salt and additives.
Instant ramen is what I cooked when I was home alone as a kid, we didn’t have it often but man oh man was it a nice treat the rare time I convinced my mom to buy me a pack. Then, it was a staple that took me through college on those nights I came home too tipsy to cook anything, but too hungry to just go to sleep. I am sure each and every one of you has a similar Mr Noodles story, and a small nostalgia for that MSG-packed broth, and those crunchy freeze-dried peas.
WELL, now I, a grown and responsible adult CAN and WILL enjoy instant noodles again. I’ve got your new favourite DIY-never-eat-a-shitty-lunch-again hack. The Homemade Instant Noodle Bowl. This DIY instant noodle hack is totally going to class up your work lunches, and post-bar munchies in a jiffy.
All you need to do is add a bunch of your favourite raw chopped veggies in a mason jar, pack it up with par-cooked noodles, add a vegetable base, and some spices, then add boiling hot water when hunger strikes. It’s fast, easy, delicious BUT also packed with freshness and nutritional value.
- Combine all ingredients in a mason jar, or any other re-sealable jar.
- To serve, add boiling water just to cover your noodles and veggies.
- Wait a few minutes, and you've got yourself a quick and yummy lunch.
